All tackle and equipment is provided on the Patty-J. You need not bring any rods or tackle. You will want to bring a lunch and some drinks. Alcohol is permitted on the Patty-J but we discourage bringing hard alcohol. Bring as much food as you want because it is a long day and you will get hungry. Also raingear and warm clothes are recommended. The weather in Rhode Island can be unpredictable and it is best to be prepared.

If it rains, will the trip be cancelled? Although we wish all customers could have beautiful weather, sometimes it does rain and we still have to go. The captain will make foul weather cancellations at the dock or notify you the day before the trip. We will do our best to reschedule your trip at a convenient date.
Do I need to give a deposit? A deposit of $150.00 is required to book a trip.
|
Can I keep the fish I catch? All fish caught on board the Patty-J belong to the customers with the exception of bluefin tuna. Giant bluefin tuna must be sold to a licensed dealer by mandate of federal law. The proceeds are divided by the captain as follows; one third to the crew, one third to the boat, and one third to the customers. All other fish caught on the boat are yours to keep.
Do I need to tip the mate if the fishing is bad? Yes, the customary tip for the mate is 20 percent or more. Even if the fishing is bad, the mate is still working hard to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. If you are not happy with the mate’s performance, you should discuss this with the captain.
Should I take sea-sick medication? If you are uneasy about getting sick, then by all means use a motion sickness remedy. However, study the side effects and directions carefully to make sure you use the medication properly. Some motion sickness remedies cause drowsiness but now many have non-drowsy formulas available.
